Upcoming Topics for Episodes #3 and #4

I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. We sure did. This weekend, I’ll be posting 2 shows. I had some technical difficulties this past weekend while recording, so now I have to record 2 shows this coming weekend.

In episode #3 I’ll be talking about holiday spending and budgeting. The Christmas season has arrived and so many people go into debt from holiday overspending. So this episode is dedicated to providing you with helpful holiday spending an budgeting tips. I’ll also be unveiling a new online tool out the grab bag. It is a tool that could change your financial situation for the better.

In episode #4 the topic will be ‘Fundraiser Burn-Out’. If it’s one thing all parents know all to well, it’s school fundraisers. How many have you received since the start of school?????

Happy Friday: Time for Bubbles & Bubbly

It’s Friday!!!!!! Welcome to the first posting for Bubbles & Bubbly, where every Friday I post one alcoholic and one non-alcoholic (for folks like myself who do not drink alcohol) drink recipe. So, put the kids to bed early, mix your drink and run yourself a nice hot bubble bath and relax.

Alcoholic Drink Recipe

MANGO MOJITO

1 1/2 oz Cruzan® mango rum
3 oz club soda
4 mint leaves
1 lime wedge

Muddle the mint leaves and lime wedge in the bottom of an old-fashioned glass. Add Cruzan mango rum and club soda as above or adjusted to taste. Add ice cubes, and serve.

Non-alcoholic Drink Recipe

BLACK AND BLUE BERRIES

1 cup berries
1 cup soda water
2 tbsp honey
1 tsp lemon juice

Place all ingredients into a blender jar. Cover, and whiz on medium speed until well blended. Pour into a collins glass, and serve.

Home Alone and the Party Begins

Well, well, well. Will these kids ever learn? I had a bit of shocking news last week. I got home to have a parent in our development come over to tell me that she came home from work early to find out that her twins boys and all the other kids in our neighborhood were all at my house today having a good ole’ time.

My youngest daughter goes to the neighborhood school, so she gets on the school bus on her own in the morning and comes home on her own in the afternoon. Now, of course we set rules and guidelines, but somewhere along the line, my child thought she could turn our home into the party house and no one would be the wiser.

Come to find there were about 15 kids in my house, more specifically IN MY ROOM, watching movies. Needless to say, she got in BIG trouble for this.

Note to self: Must go threaten all the GD kids in the neighborhood about partying in my house when I am not there.

Next Episode Topic

In episode 2 I’ll be talking about the holidays and how single parents deal with custody arrangements with the other parent. The holidays are tough for many single parents because in many cases they have to hand their child(ren) over to the ex. It can be a lonely time and you sometimes feel horrible because you may not be able to share the joys of the holiday with your kids.

If you’d like to share your situation with the listeners, send me an email at talesofasingleparent@gmail.com or leave a voicemail to have played on the podcast at 571-921-4243.

Who Used All the Darn Shower Gel ????

In my life, I have very few guilty pleasures. The ones I do have, let no man, woman or child screw with them. One being my freakin’ SHOWER GEL. I love to indulge in buying all kinds of smell good, skin softening shower gels. It makes me feel pretty and all lady like (gush gush). So, I just got this fabuoous shower gel made by Caress. It’s an cream oil shower gel called Japanese exotic oil Infusions and it feels so good on your body and the scent is almost hypnotic.

I go to take a shower and I can’t wait to use this shower gel and I go to pour some on my scrubby hickamado and the bottle is damn near empty!!! This is outrage I tell you, OUTRAGE!!!!!

I have 2 girls and they automatically think that whatever beauty products I have is also for their consumption. But oh ho ho, they are sadly mistaken. So, the girls and I had to have a little chat about them keeping their paws off of mommies scared products : )

I know some of my moms out there can relate.

What are some of your guilty pleasures that no child is allowed to touch? Let me know..
